Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) was originally made from high-THC cannabis. CBD RSO is different — it uses the same whole-plant extraction method but starts with industrial hemp, not cannabis. The result is a concentrate dominated by CBD with the full supporting cast of minor cannabinoids (CBG, CBN, CBC) and no detectable THC.
Mellow’s CBD RSO delivers approximately 522 mg CBD + 78 mg minor cannabinoids per ml — a complete whole-plant profile in the smallest possible volume.
CBD RSO oil is typically the most cost-effective CBD format available, measured in cost per milligram. To understand why, compare it against standard CBD oil:
| Product | Total mg | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| CBD RSO Oil (1 ml syringe) | 600 mg | 600 mg/ml |
| 5000 mg Purity Oil (30 ml) | 5000 mg | 167 mg/ml |
| 4800 mg Full Spectrum (30 ml) | 4800 mg | 160 mg/ml |
RSO delivers 3–4× more cannabinoids per ml than even the strongest standard oils, which matters if you’re taking 75–150 mg per day. At that dose, a standard 30 ml bottle lasts 3–6 weeks. A single RSO syringe can extend that considerably — and you’re paying for cannabinoids, not carrier oil.
Not recommended for first-time CBD users. At 600 mg/ml, even a small measured portion is a significant dose. Start with standard-strength CBD oils first.
Because of its concentration, RSO requires careful measurement. A portion the size of a grain of rice weighs approximately 25–30 mg — at 600 mg/ml, that’s all most people need to start.

Is CBD RSO oil the same as Rick Simpson Oil?
No. Traditional Rick Simpson Oil is made from high-THC cannabis and is psychoactive. CBD RSO is made from hemp using a similar extraction process — it’s high in CBD with no detectable THC. The name refers to the extraction method, not the THC content.
How many doses are in a 1 ml syringe?
A rice-grain portion is roughly 25–30 mg. At 600 mg/ml, a 1 ml syringe provides approximately 20–25 doses at that level. If you’re using 50 mg doses, expect 10–12 doses per syringe. RSO is sold by the ml — check the product listing for available sizes.
Is CBD RSO oil legal in Canada?
Yes. Hemp-derived CBD concentrates are legal across Canada without a prescription. Mellow’s CBD RSO contains no detectable THC and is made from compliant industrial hemp.
Will CBD RSO oil show on a drug test?
CBD RSO has no detectable THC on third-party COA testing, but no manufacturer can guarantee a negative result on every drug panel. If drug testing is a firm concern, opt for CBD isolate (pure CBD powder) instead.
