There's no universal CBD dose — it depends on your body weight, goals, and the product you're using. Here's a practical, step-by-step approach to dialling in the right amount.
Unlike a prescription medication with a fixed dose, CBD works differently for everyone. Your body weight, metabolism, the condition you're addressing, and the potency of the product all affect how much you need.
The good news: CBD has an excellent safety profile. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that CBD "does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm." Clinical trials have used doses as high as 1500 mg/day with good tolerability.
Still, more isn't always better. Start low and build up gradually — this gives your endocannabinoid system time to calibrate.
A common starting point for adults is 10–20 mg per day. If you're using a 30ml bottle with 1200mg CBD, that's roughly 0.25–0.5ml per day (about half a dropper).
Hold the oil under your tongue for 60–90 seconds before swallowing. Sublingual absorption is faster and more bioavailable than swallowing directly.
Give your body time to respond. Take the same dose every day for 5–7 days. Keep a simple journal noting:
If after one week you haven't noticed any difference, increase by 5–10 mg and repeat for another week. Most people find their optimal dose somewhere between 20–75 mg/day.
For more targeted support — chronic discomfort, significant sleep issues — some users work up to 75–150 mg/day under the guidance of a health professional.
| Goal | Suggested Starting Dose |
|---|---|
| General wellness / daily supplement | 10–25 mg/day |
| Stress & mood support | 20–40 mg/day |
| Sleep support | 25–50 mg at bedtime |
| Muscle & joint discomfort | 30–60 mg/day |
| Intensive / chronic support | 50–150 mg/day |
